Gold Plating
For engineering, electronics, and various industrial applications
Gold plating is a method of depositing a thin layer of gold to provide a corrosion-resistant electrically conductive layer on copper, typically in electrical connectors and printed circuit boards. With direct gold-on-copper plating, the copper atoms have the tendency to diffuse through the gold layer, causing tarnishing of its surface and formation of an oxide/sulfide layer. A layer of a suitable barrier metal, usually nickel, has therefore to be deposited on the copper substrate, forming a copper-nickel-gold sandwich.

Nickel Plating
Electro nickel plating, also known as nickel electro-deposition, is a process that uses an electrical current to coat a conductive material, typically made of metal, with a thin layer of nickel. Other metals used for electroplating include stainless steel, copper, zinc, and platinum.
Benefits of Electro Nickel Plating
In general, electroplating improves a wide range of characteristics not inherently present in the base material. Some of these benefits include:

Electro nickel plating can also improve a productÂ’s brightness and external appearance. Different nickel-plating chemicals incorporated into the process deliver anything from a semi-bright and fully bright cosmetic effect, to matte, pearl, or satin finishes.
Thickness
Nickel Plating can be accurately and uniformly deposited in a wide range of coating thickness. The majority of commercial applications utilize a thickness between 0.1 - 1.0mm while holding an overall tolerance of 0.1mm. Thickness of 1.0 - 3.0mm are common for corrosive service, while deposit thickness above 3.0mm are typical of repair and rework. Deposition of heavier coatings requires careful process control to avoid roughness and pitting.

Chrome Plating
Chrome plating is a finishing treatment utilizing the electrolytic deposition of chromium.
The most common form of chrome plating is the thin, decorative bright chrome, which is typically a 10-µm layer over an underlying nickel plate. When plating on iron or steel, an underlying plating of copper allows the nickel to adhere.
The pores (tiny holes) in the nickel and chromium layers also promote corrosion resistance. Bright chrome imparts a mirror-like finish to items such as metal furniture frames and automotive trim. Thicker deposits, up to 1000 µm, are called hard chrome and are used in industrial equipment to reduce friction and wear.
