The idea for Secret Garden Photography was born out of my love of photographing children and a particular image that I created for my daughter, Raya, who at the time wouldn?t leave the house without her fairy skirt & wings (pink of course!)\ \ Most photographer?s profiles usually start the same way - My passion for photography started when I child and was given a camera for my birthday.My story is a little different - it didn?t occur to me that I was interested in photography - only that I was interested in creating images. \ \ This drew me to the Film and Television industry where I freelanced as a make up artist in Australia and the UK for many years.\ \ I guess I must have learnt something about the art of image making in my travels because when I put my hand to photography, when my children were young, I found it came naturally.After much encouragement from family and friends I finally embarked on a journey that ultimately led me to starting my own photography business.\ \ These days you can usually find me in my digital darkroom (i.e. my office in the Valley) or traipsing around town shooting pictures or searching locations.\ \ I adore photographing children and their families and capturing their natural expressions - this for me is the key to a timeless image because there is true emotion in it.\ \ You?ll also notice a sense of feminine strength in some of my images. I am constantly inspired by so many strong, beautiful, creative and supportive women. I guess after so many years as a make up artist I?ve realised where true beauty lies - and it doesn?t need make up.\ \ My daughter has outgrown fairy skirts and wings, and the colour pink thankfully! But both my children are still a constant source of inspiration for me.\ \ At Secret Garden we don?t do competitions, we don?t advertise specials, and we don?t market kids coffee table books in order to sell you prints. We simply rely on word of mouth and reputation. Our portrait sessions are personal, relaxed and fun. There is no sitting fee and no pushy sales people when it comes time to view your images. \ \ We simply offer quality timeless pictures of the people you love. \ Naomi Mawson
